Office of the Fire Chief

The Somerset Fire Department is a full-time, career organization made up of 35 sworn personnel and one Administrative Assistant. Of these, 32 members are assigned to shifts across four crews. Each crew includes a Captain (Shift Commander), a Lieutenant, and six firefighters, working 24-hour rotating shifts.

In addition to shift personnel, the Chief, Deputy Chief, and Training Captain work a standard administrative schedule.

The Department is responsible for a wide range of services, including fire suppression, Advanced Life Support (ALS) emergency medical care, technical rescue, hazardous materials response, fire prevention, code enforcement, and public fire education. We take great pride in the comprehensive services we provide and are committed to helping our residents and visitors in their time of need.
