IN ACCORDANCE WITH Chapter 53 of the Acts of 2020, and as voted by THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN, WE HEREBY NOTIFY ALL SOMERSET REGISTERED VOTERS that the

ANNUAL TOWN ELECTION WILL BE HELD

SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 2020

SOMERSET BERKLEY REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT DINING HALL 625 COUNTY STREET

 POLLING HOURS WILL BE 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

All voters must enter the voting area through the Student Dining Hall Entrance

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and for the safety of all voters and election workers, PLEASE abide by all Personal Protection measures in place at the polling location.  Voters are asked to wear a mask, if able to; hand sanitizer will be provided upon entry; brand new ballot markers will be given to every voter upon entry or you can use your own black ink pen or marker; six foot distancing will be marked; 10 voters will be allowed inside the polling location at one time; voting booths will be sufficiently distanced.

VOTER PARKING - The parking area for voters will be located in the southern most parking lot.

  • From Prospect Street, proceed to Clifford M. Holland Road.
  • From Clifford M. Holland Road, enter the access road to the high school and the parking area is on your immediate left. 
  • From County Street - enter road next to Sunoco and take a left at the stop sign to the entrance to the parking area, or take Clifford M. Holland Road.

HANDICAP PARKING is available in the lot and an additional four (4) temporary handicap parking spots are made available during election hours on the access road that crosses the front of the student dining hall.  Voter drop off is also allowed in this area.

The Board of Selectmen greatly appreciates the cooperation and patience of the voters during this election in order to protect the residents of the Town of Somerset and to safely and efficiently conduct our Annual Town Election during unprecedented circumstances.

The LAST day to OBTAIN nomination papers to be a candidate in this election is Thursday, February 20 at 5:00 pm.
 
The LAST day to RETURN nomination papers for certification of signatures is Monday, February 24 at 5:00 pm.
 
Absentee Ballot Applications are available for anyone who will be out of Town on Election day, unable to vote at the polling location due to a physical disability, or a religious belief.   *****UPDATE - THE LAW HAS BEEN RELAXED FOR THE REQUIREMENTS OF ABSENTEE VOTING.  ANYONE WHO CONSIDERS THEMSELVES TO BE SELF QUARANTINED AT THE TIME OF THE ELECTION CAN APPLY FOR AN ABSENTEE BALLOT*****

The last day to register to vote for new residents or non registered voters is Wednesday, June 3 @ 8:00 PM.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Town Office building is closed to the public, therefore, Voter Registration forms can be dropped off at the Town Office building inside the silver lock box.  Voter registration can also be done on line at https://www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR/

DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS SITUATION, EARLY VOTING BY MAIL WILL BE ALLOWED FOR THIS ELECTION ONLY.  PLEASE NOTE THAT AN ABSENTEE BALLOT WILL BE USED FOR ANYONE WISHING TO APPLY FOR AN EARLY VOTING BALLOT FOR THIS ELECTION.  APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED FOR BOTH EARLY AND ABSENTEE VOTING NOT LATER THAN NOON on the last business day of the new date tbd.  BALLOTS WILL BE MAILED TO VOTERS UPON REQUEST AND MUST BE RETURNED NOT LATER THAN 8:00 PM ON ELECTION DAY.
