Somerset Wastewater Pump Station Upgrades

Construction of upgrades and improvements to the Cherry Street, Millers Lane, Durfee Court, Gay Street, and Owen Avenue pump stations are financed by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF). The CWSRF program is administered by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) with joint funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. CWSRF programs operate around the country to provide states and communities with the resources necessary to maintain and improve the infrastructure that protects our valuable water resources nationwide.  

 

Somerset is investing in vital upgrades to five local pump stations to improve reliability and protect water quality. 

 

All five locations will receive new pumps, electrical systems, and controls. These improvements will help manage power failures, pump overloads, and flooding risks. Most importantly, they will help protect groundwater and surface water resources as well as creating cleaner and safer environment for residents and businesses across Somerset.

Flushable wipes are clogging sewer pipes! 

Flushable wipes DO NOT dissolve in the sewer system. Even if you just flush one, the wipes can cause problems in your home plumbing and in the Waste Water Treatment System by collecting in pumps and valves causing clogs. Clogs in sewer pipes can lead to dangerous sewage spills into the community and cost money to maintain and repair. Thank you for not flushing "flushable" wipes!
