| - Open Burning Season: January 15th - May 1st, 10 AM - 4 PM Daily You must obtain a permit in person at the Fire Department once each season. After a permit is issued, you may then call the Fire Department with your permit number on the days that you wish to burn to find out if burning will be allowed for that day. There is no fee for the permit. The on-duty Shift Commander determines, daily, whether burning permits will be issued based on weather and air quality conditions as set forth by DEP. - Somerset Fire Department HQ is located at 475 County Street, Somerset, MA 02726. |

To Report a Fire DIAL-911 - To schedule smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector inspections please call the Fire Department at 508-646-2810. - Inspections are performed on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00-2:30 pm. A 48 hour notice is required. - A ladder or step stool must be provided so that the Inspector can reach the detectors. - For placement and the type of detector needed, go to the Department of Fire Services website at www.mass.gov/dfs. |
